If you come back and work in Indiana for five years after college graduation you get half your loans forgiven?
I'm from Indiana. I hear people talk about how if you come back and work in Indiana for five years after college graduation you get half your student loans forgiven. Is this true?? What is this? Where can I find more information on this or similar programs? I am planning on staying in Indiana and teaching high school in my home town. THANKS!!!

If you work in SPECIFIED jobs, some of your loans my be paid by your EMPLOYER. The employer may be the state of Indiana. Simply working in the state will NOT result in ANY loan forgiveness. Actually, the LENDER won't 'forgive' any of the loan. SOMEONE will pay them.

A lot of states have clauses that they will pay( adn YES it is the state paying) if you stay in state for x years. For example, the state I am orginally from offers tuition reimburmant for teachers that stay instate and doctors that go to some of the more rural areas for x amount of years. It is basically sat up as a 'conditional' scholorship to pay off loans that are currently being defurred. The condition being that you stay instate or where ever. At the end of x time of staying in state, your education is paid.
