Answer 1 :
No, provided they are over 18. You will have to pay child support until they are 17 (depending on your arrangement with your estranged wife), but not legally forced to pay anything after 18. However, you and your wife may chose to prepare a legally-binding agreement that includes college payments.
Answer 2 :
Only if it's in your divorce decree. You will be required to pay child support until your child is 22 if they are a full-time student.

Can you collect unemployment in Indiana while going to college

Can you collect unemployment in Indiana while going to college?
I was fired from my job due to our store being very slow and not hitting my sales quota, and I really want to go to school to get my degree in Pastry Arts. My question is, could I still collect my unemployment while going to school full time? I received a letter in the mail stating that my employer did in fact dispute the unemployment, but they were denied. The claim is still going through and my first check is in the mail right now.

Answer 1 :
I don't know about Indiana, but in New York you can, and I did.
Answer 2 :
I believe that you have to be available for employment. You have to send in a statement of companies that you have contacted for employment, and they can check to see if you were in fact there.
Answer 3 :
You got fired, you can't collect.
Answer 4 :
No, first of all you have to be looking for another job in order to collect benefits and secondly your employer would fight your claim saying you were not meeting your quota. You can apply for re-training through the EDD and get unemployment but it must be done through them.
Answer 5 :
Check with the claims office . In Ohio you can sign a statement that if you are offered a job you will accept the job and change your college schedule to accommodate the new employment .

What is the best bank for a college student in Indiana, specifically Indianapolis

What is the best bank for a college student in Indiana, specifically Indianapolis?

Answer 1 :
I'm not sure, but I like how you re posted with more detail. Much better than most of the losers on Yahoo! Answers.
Answer 2 :
the bank of sherry l. contact me and I will give you all of the info to make your deposits.
Answer 3 :
Chase Manhattan has several branches in the Indianapolis area
Answer 4 :
When I lived in Indianapolis, I utilized Fifth Third bank with a good amount of success. I currently am a customer with Chase in another region of the country, and I have had some service issues with them. I have also worked with Union Federal off and on in the Indianapolis area, and I have always had a positive experience with them. Another option I would consider student friendly is a local or university affiliated credit union. I did not use a credit union in Indiana, so I am unable to recommend specifics. I have had great success with them in other regions
Answer 5 :
I have always been treated well at 5/3. Avoid Chase.
Answer 6 :
I used 5/3 and their service was aweful...I am with Chase now and would reccommend them to anyone. Your best bet is to visit a couple of banks and let them know what you are looking for to see what they have to offer. Try to find a bank that offers free checking, free checks, no fees, no minimum amount etc. Pay attention to their level of service while you are visiting them. If they don't take the time to answer your questions about their products/services they sure aren't going to take the time once you are a member. Also a lot of banks are offering rewards programs and may have something specific for college students.

indiana university vs columbia college of chicago

indiana university vs columbia college of chicago?
I am thinking of going to college to major in journalism and minor in photography. I would like to be a photojournalist. I know Columbia College of Chicago is a very good school for media and everything, but Indiana University also offers Photography and journalism. if i went to IU would my degree still allow me to be competitive when i go to find a job? or am i better off at Columbia? Any input is appreciated.

Answer 1 :
Neither of these schools nor any other university or college will enable you to become competitive to become a photojournalist or any other kind of journalist. Journalism is a contracting field. More journalists are laid off than are hired each week in the USA. Your competition will be experienced journalists with many years of paid experience.
Answer 2 :
Employment in journalism is decreasing although there is always room at the top. Job opportunities for photographers are increasing but possibly not as fast as the number of persons who want to enter that field. Also, are you sure you aren't getting Columbia College in Chicago mixed up with Columbia University in New York and University of Missouri - Columbia? IU is on at least some lists of "top ten J-schools" but Columbia College is not. Columbia U. and Mizzou both have well regarded J-schools. For photojournalism, you might consider Western Kentucky, whose students often place near the top in the Hearst Journalism Awards competitions. IMHO, one major advantage of IU is that you have so many options for other majors to explore including informatics, sport communication, telecommunications, communications and culture, etc. Wherever you apply, ask about what their recent graduates are doing and how many were able to get jobs in their field. Ask about availability of internships. Can every student who wants a internship get one? Finally, check with an adviser at IU to be sure, but I think that at IU you'd earn a bachelor of arts in journalism with a second concentration in photography (if permissible) rather than a major in journalism and a minor in photography. The Ernie Pyle School of Journalism has a "second concentration" requirement, which must be in a subject other than mass communications. I think Telecommunications and Communications and Culture would not qualify but I don't know if Photography would be OK or not.
Answer 3 :
Overall, certainly IU is a far, far better school than is Columbia College. It isn't a trade school, so the focus is likely to be rather different, but you should certainly still be competitive when looking for a job if you go there.
